Our work is built on more than 13 years of experience in heritage research, archaeology, and cultural consultancy.
Stefano holds a PhD in Building Archaeology from the University of Edinburgh. A proud Umbrian, he has dedicated much of his career to exploring, documenting, and promoting the heritage of his native region. His work has resulted in over 30 scholarly publications and the creation of numerous cultural initiatives, including archaeological excavations, research projects, heritage events, and educational tours.
Between 2014 and 2022, Stefano founded and co-directed the archaeological excavations at the Roman and early medieval site of Pietrarossa, near Trevi. He also served as scientific consultant to the Ottobre Trevano Festival from 2017 to 2025 and supported the Municipality of Campello sul Clitunno in the UNESCO-led management of the Tempietto sul Clitunno between 2019 and 2021.
His international experience includes work with the British Institute at Ankara on the Water in Istanbul: Rising to the Challenge project and with the Centre for Culture and Society at the Edinburgh Futures Institute. In 2022, he achieved professional accreditation with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA).
Today, Stefano directs the Durastante Natalucci Research Project, launched through Associazione Pro Trevi in 2025. As a freelance archaeologist and heritage consultant, he has worked with municipalities, businesses, organisations, and private owners to uncover and interpret the histories behind places, properties, products, and communities.
Combining rigorous research with a passion for public engagement, Stefano provides the scientific and strategic foundation of SBH, transforming historical knowledge into meaningful cultural and economic value.
